BIG BIRD FESTIVAL 1999

The Sixth Annual Big Bird Festival on August 21 & 22, 1999.
We had 93 pilots from 9 states who registered 133 planes for a great weekend of flying. People began arriving early in the week and by Saturday Morning dozens of RV's and campers were filling the parking lot.

Advertising and newspaper articles really brought out the spectators. Over 260 cars filled the spectator parking lot each day. We estimate over 2000 spectators from 13 states visited the event. They covered the US from Oregon to Georgia.

Aircraft of all types were present: Sport, Aerobatic, and Military to name a few. They were big, they were beautiful, and they flew all day long.

We had Sean McMurtry, the 1998 TOC 3rd place finisher, provide noontime air shows. He showed us that all of those world-class maneuvers could really be done in "our air." Sean also flew a B36 built by Grant Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The sound of 6 engines in sync on a low pass was a sight to behold.
